The Harrison Street Townhomes are a 7-Unit condominium development located in the heart of North Corktown at the corner of Harrison and Perry Streets, within walking distance of the ne Michigan Central, Michigan Avenue and downtown Detroit. Each unit is approximately 1,000 square feet with 2-bedrooms, 1-1/2 baths, kitchen, living room and dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Laundry is located on the second floor with the main bedrooms. One-car parking per unit is reserved for residents in the rear parking area. The basement is home to the utilities for the residence but also can be built-out with another bedroom, full bathroom, and family room space. Thus creating 1,500 square feet of livable space.
The exterior design of the condominium takes a simple plan of the townhomes, which turn the corner, and adds a green screen to the building. The wire mesh attached to the building and ground are then planted with growing vines to provide shading and a green aesthetic to the building. This aesthetic is then buttressed with white brick masonry on the ends. The front porches of each unit is shaded and somewhat concealed yet open to the street for neighborhood participation.
The condominium is qualified for the Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) tax abatement for the new homeowners, thus reducing their property taxes to be regionally competitive.
